Family Planning
Family Planning includes a range of issues from birth control and preventing pregnancy to fertility and trying to become pregnant. Women's Health Center of Oregon is here to help women meet whatever their current needs are in the planning of their family.
Birth Control
The right method of birth control for you is something you should discuss with your healthcare provider. Some types of birth control are only effective for preventing pregnancy, others can also be used to protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Different methods of birth control include hormone pills, patches, injections and vaginal rings or, barrier methods (condoms, diaphragm, cervical cap) and IUDs. Permanent birth control is also available (Tubal Ligation, Essure). Talk to your healthcare provider about what birth control method is right for you.
Getting Pregnant and Fertility
If you are planning to become pregnant you may want to make a preconception counseling appointment with your healthcare provider. Preconception counseling is the ideal place to discuss any health concerns or questions you have about becoming pregnant. Your healthcare provider can help you to maximize your fertility and make healthy choices for you and your future child. If you are having difficulty becoming pregnant, see your healthcare provider about your options for increasing your chances of becoming pregnant.
